Taking Your Health and Well-Being To Its Highest Potential

“When something seems unbalanced and out of rhythm, just a song can tune things up in a moment. The power of music is therapy.

CORE PRINCIPLES

HOLISTIC

Because of the deep-rooted mind-body connection, we believe music therapy treatment should be comprehensive and address the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical needs of every client in order to have the greatest benefit. Using a holistic approach is an integral part of working with clients during every session.

PERSON-CENTERED

We believe it is important to empower clients to steer the direction of music therapy sessions and as the therapist, take cues from the client. After all, we know our own body best and believe that all music therapy sessions should start with meeting the client where they are at and giving them the tools to be successful in their therapy sessions.

DYNAMIC

Because music engages all parts of the brain, it can be a highly motivating tool when addressing client goals. We use this to our advantage and use dynamic, creative, and engaging music-based interventions to help clients achieve targeted goals with less perceived effort. No two music therapy sessions look the same and this approach provides lasting changes.

When my elderly mother began music therapy with Mary, she had no idea that it would add so much to her life.  She wasn't expecting to make a dear new friend, seventy years her junior.  Although she had always enjoyed listening to music, Mom was adamant that she couldn't sing a note.  With her guitar, her lovely voice, and an abundance of patience, Mary slowly coaxed out the songs that had been hidden away for so many years.  "Bicycle Built for Two", "You are my Sunshine", "My Wild Irish Rose".  Their sessions brought about a noticeable improvement in Mom's memory and cognitive skills.  I will always treasure the memory of my 95-year-old mother waving sheer colored scarves through the air while she and her dear music therapist, Mary, sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".
